Every NC750 has the same airbox and almost none of them breathe the same air. Honda sold this platform to commuters, to touring riders, to rental fleets and to people who use the X on unsealed access roads at the weekend, across seven model years and two gearboxes. The machine is therefore not what decides which filter medium belongs in it — the environment is. The Sprint Filter P14 PM181P14 is the element for the dusty end of that range: a dry special non-woven filtering to 14 microns, where the standard P08 weave works at 80.
Key Features
- Never oiled — a dry special non-woven medium filtering down to 14 microns
- Finer weave, more retention, less flow: 1,800 l/m²/sec against the P08's 5,050
- About twice the filtering area of a comparable performance element
- Manual gearbox or dual-clutch, one element covers the whole NC750 platform
- It drops into the standard airbox in place of the original — no modification, no remap
- Warranty: two years from the date of purchase
When this is the wrong filter
If your NC750 lives on clean sealed roads, covers most of its distance on motorway and rarely sees gravel, farm traffic or a genuinely dry dusty summer, the P14 gives you nothing you will benefit from and asks you to look after it sooner than a coarser medium would. The P08 is the better balance for that bike, and we would rather sell you that one. The P14 earns its place where the air is loaded: unsurfaced access roads, construction routes, agricultural regions in harvest, long hot summers, and daily riding in the dust plume of other traffic. The dividing line is not how hard the bike is ridden but what it is ridden through, which is why two identical NC750s can want different elements while their owners ride them in exactly the same way.
A trade, not a ladder
Sprint Filter's media form a line, not a ranking. The P08 at 80 microns and 5,050 l/m²/sec is the road and track default. The P14 at 14 microns and 1,800 l/m²/sec holds back far more of the fine fraction and passes correspondingly less air. Going further still, the T12 filters to 7 microns at 560 l/m²/sec for genuinely extreme, off-road and desert conditions. Each step buys retention with flow. Choosing well means being honest about the air you ride in rather than reaching for the finest number available — and on a 745 cc twin ridden at part throttle, the flow the P14 gives up is flow the engine was never going to call for.
Care and cleaning
On a fine medium the compressor is worth reaching for more often than on a coarse one, and it costs nothing to do: air from the clean side, worked outwards, element back in dry. A deeper clean is lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, then a full dry in open air — never with heat and never with a flame. There is no oiling stage. The maintenance sheet for the PM181P14 is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Honda NC750 from 2014 to 2020. The same PM181P14 element covers five machines across the NC parallel-twin platform; the full list is in the Fitment tab.
