The Piega R's primary design goal is the elimination of unnecessary rotating mass. Every gram shed from the wheel's rim and spoke section reduces the gyroscopic effect, making the Panigale 959 more willing to tip into corners and quicker to respond to steering inputs on the way out. The forged construction also maintains stiffness under the lateral loads generated by sticky track tyres, so the feedback through the chassis remains clean and trustworthy at the limit.
