Where It Sits
Dimensionally this is 10 mm, 10 mm, 470 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. The separating piston or bladder inside keeps gas and oil apart; if it fails, the damping goes with it. A separating piston or bladder keeps nitrogen and oil apart; if it fails the damping goes with it. Hose length is part of the installation and cannot be substituted freely.
Genuine Service Part
A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.
Identifying the Right Part
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 00637-29 in this case. Öhlins states dimension a 10 mm, dimension b 10 mm, dimension c 470 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. The reservoir holds the gas charge and the oil volume the damper displaces as the shaft enters it. The reservoir takes the oil the shaft displaces as it enters the damper.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting service parts means opening a pressurised unit. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do that here, with the right tools and a dyno check afterwards — just ask.
