DescriptionThe whole story▼
When the pace is high and the margins are thin, keeping your Yamaha YZF-R6's engine covers intact is non-negotiable. The GBRacing Engine Cover Protector Complete Set delivers race-proven protection for the alternator, ignition and clutch covers — engineered for the demands of track day punishment and weekend road use alike, across the full YZF-R6 range from 2006 to 2026.
Key Features
- Constructed from 60% glass-fibre reinforced nylon for exceptional impact resistance and long-term durability under racing conditions.
- Bolt-on fitment with no adhesive required — each protector is screwed directly to the engine cover for a secure, rattle-free installation and easy field replacement.
- Comprehensive three-piece set covers the most vulnerable covers in a crash: alternator, ignition and clutch.
- Precision-moulded profile follows the contour of the YZF-R6 engine for a clean, factory-integrated appearance.
- Mounting hardware included — everything needed for installation is in the box, keeping prep time to a minimum at the track.
- Dramatically reduces the cost of race-weekend off incidents by shielding expensive engine covers from direct ground contact.
Build Quality & Track Performance
GBRacing's glass-fibre nylon compound is the same material trusted by race teams competing at club and national level. At 60% glass-fibre content, the compound resists cracking and abrasion far beyond what standard thermoplastics can offer. Each protector is designed to absorb and redirect impact energy away from the cast aluminium covers beneath, giving the engine a fighting chance of surviving a highside or lowside without catastrophic damage.
The bolt-on design is a deliberate choice for the racing environment. Adhesive-backed protectors peel away under sustained heat and vibration — GBRacing's screwed fitment stays put lap after lap, and can be swapped out in minutes if a protector takes a hit during a session.
Important Fitment Note — Model Years 2017 to 2026
On YZF-R6 models built from 2017 onwards, the small metal cover plate located beneath the alternator must be removed before fitting the alternator protector. An additional M6x25 A2 stainless steel bolt is required for this year range and must be sourced separately; this bolt is not included in the standard kit.
