DescriptionThe whole story▼
The TRK 502 X is the version of Benelli's adventure tourer with spoked wheels and a stronger leaning towards rough roads, and it suits riders planning their first really long journey. A trip like that begins weeks before departure, in the garage, with a list of checks worked through line by line. Engine oil sits near the top. For the TRK 502 X with ABS of 2017 to 2019, Accossato lists the FP001, an oil filler cap CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, with an M20x1.5 thread.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Benelli TRK 502 X with ABS, 2017 to 2019
- Thread size M20x1.5 as stated by Accossato
- Aluminium, CNC-machined, with anodised colour
- Choice of orange, blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium or gold
- Suitable for other bikes with the same cap size after a check
- Same cap listed for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 and the Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the FP001 from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodises it, giving the finished cap its colour. Orange, blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium and gold are on offer. The thread, M20x1.5, is the one figure Accossato gives, and the company notes that the cap can be adapted to other motorcycles whose cap has the same size. For a traveller, that has a practical side: note the thread in the bike's paperwork, together with the other sizes that might be needed far from home.
The Checklist Before the Big Trip
Seasoned travellers prepare in stages. A few weeks before leaving, they look at what might need ordering: tyres, chain and sprockets, brake pads, and oil and filter if a service would fall due during the trip. Having that service done before departure is usually easier than hunting for a workshop on the way. The hands-on check comes in the final week. Read the oil level of the TRK 502 X exactly as the owner's manual describes, with the bike standing as specified, and open the filler only with the engine off and cooled. Top up in small amounts. Before closing, wipe the thread and the sealing face, then turn the FP001 in by hand until it seats. Some travellers note the reading and the date in a small logbook, which makes any change during the journey easy to spot. A small bottle of the specified oil, a clean rag and a funnel take up little room in a side case, and a pair of disposable gloves keeps hands and cap clean when a top-up happens far from a garage. Once the preparation is done, let the engine run briefly and look at the cap and the engine case around it; both should be dry.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FP001 for the TRK 502 X with ABS from 2017 to 2019. Thanks to its M20x1.5 thread, the cap can also be adapted to other motorcycles with the same cap size, as Accossato points out. Inter-Pace also lists it for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 and the Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, two other bikes built for distance. Accossato does not list further caps for the TRK 502 X. If the engine has been opened or the cap replaced in the past, compare the thread before ordering.
Road Approval
We have no approval papers for this cap, neither an ABE nor a test mark, so the FP001 is listed for track and competition use.
