DescriptionThe whole story▼
Modern classics like the Speed Twin 1200 are a common choice for riders returning to motorcycling after years away, and many of them find that the open-road skills come back quickly while slow-speed clutch control takes longer. The Accossato EST333P is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the Speed Twin of 2019 and 2020. It fits at the original clutch mounting, and its adjustable reach lets you place the blade exactly where your hand is comfortable while the old feel returns.
Key Features
- For the Speed Twin 1200, 2019 and 2020 model years
- Replaces the clutch lever at the original mounting
- Adjustable reach, from close to the grip to further out
- Three lengths depending on colour; standard approximately 138 mm
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised finish
- Black hub, seven blade colours
- Rigid, one-piece blade
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the EST333P by CNC machining aluminium and anodising the result. The black hub carries the pivot, with the reach adjuster close to it, and the blade is finished in the colour you pick. There is no joint along the lever, so it moves around its pivot and nowhere else. On a clutch that matters more than it might seem: a lever without play returns to the same place every time, and the bite point is exactly where it was at the end of your last ride.
Coming Back to Riding
After years away, the body needs time as well as the mind. The forearm muscles that work the clutch lose their endurance, and the first long ride through town can leave the left hand aching well before the rest of you is tired. Slow-speed control, which depends on holding the clutch in the friction zone with a steady throttle, comes back last for most returning riders. Setting up the lever for the hand you have now, rather than the one you had years ago, makes the transition easier. Start with the EST333P a little closer to the grip than you think you need, so the fingers can hold the friction zone without stretching, and consider the long blade, available in blue, gold, green or orange, which reduces the pull. Spend the first few rides on quiet roads, pull away and stop often, and let the feel for the bite point rebuild. As strength and confidence return, move the blade back out if you prefer more travel. A refresher session with an instructor is worth considering before the first long trip on the Speed Twin 1200.
Fitment and Compatibility
Both model years of the Speed Twin 1200 on Accossato's list, 2019 and 2020, are covered by the EST333P, which replaces the clutch lever at the original mounting. On the brake side, Accossato offers the EDF099 for the same two years. Ordered together, the two levers can share a colour or contrast on purpose.
Road Approval
The EST333P comes without documented German road approval (ABE) and is offered for track use.
