DescriptionThe whole story▼
A W800 is not ridden like a modern sports bike. Its air-cooled long-stroke twin pulls from low revs with a soft, even beat, and most owners change up early and let the engine do its work at a relaxed pace. That style asks little of the clutch at any one moment but uses it constantly. For the first-generation W800, listed from 2012 to 2016, Accossato makes the ESK750, a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever with adjustable reach and a blade in black, silver or one of five brighter colours.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Kawasaki W800, listed 2012 to 2016
- Fits at the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable
- Long blade for a light pull in blue, gold, green and orange
- Standard length approximately 138 mm, in all seven colours
- Black anodised hub
- Machined aluminium, fixed blade
Construction and Material Quality
The W800 is appreciated for straightforward engineering, and the ESK750 follows the same principle. It is a single machined part: a hub with the pivot bore and the reach adjuster, and a blade that runs from there to the tip without a hinge. Accossato cuts it from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodises it, the hub in black and the blade in the colour you choose. The anodised colour is part of the metal's surface and does not peel, and with no joint in the blade, the take-up stays consistent over the years.
Early Shifts and an Easy Hand
Changing up early suits the character of the W800's engine, which is happiest turning over gently in a higher gear. The gear change that goes with it is unhurried: close the throttle, pull the clutch, select the next gear, and let the clutch out smoothly as the throttle opens again. Done well, the bike moves on without a nod of the rider's head. The smoothness depends on the left hand pulling and releasing in one fluid movement, which is easier when the lever sits where the fingers naturally close. Set the ESK750 accordingly with the adjuster. The long blade adds leverage and lightens the action, which many riders appreciate on a relaxed day out; the standard length is the familiar all-round choice. Silver and black blades keep the look classic, but the lever is also made in red, orange, blue, green and gold if you would like a touch of colour on the left side of the W800.
Fitment and Compatibility
Only the first-generation W800 is on Accossato's list for the ESK750, from 2012 to 2016; the lever replaces the stock item at the original clutch mounting. The EDF014 brake lever covers a wider range, from 2011 to 2016 and again from 2019 to 2024, so for the later W800 models only the brake side is on Accossato's list.
Road Approval
No documented German ABE covers this clutch lever, which is why we sell it for the track.
