Only one of them can be taken back

Swapping elements is a ten-minute job on a bench, and the factory panel is still in its box on the shelf if you kept it. The too-fine mistake therefore comes with a full refund attached, paid in the currency it was made in. The other direction has no such arrangement. Whatever went past a coarse element while you were making up your mind is downstream now, and no later purchase reverses it. This is not an argument that every owner should buy the finest medium in the range — most Valico DS owners should not — but it is why the two errors deserve unequal amounts of caution.

The size of what you hand back

Nine to one, near enough. The standard element for this housing is rated at 80 microns and 5,050 l/m²/sec, this one at 7 microns and 560, and both are rated in the same frame. Give that number its weight before ordering: it is the largest single step in the range, and it applies every time the engine breathes rather than only on the dusty days. Keep the other column straight too — a drop-in element of any specification leaves a standard Valico DS making exactly the power Voge signed off. What changes is what arrives with the air, and how steady the resistance stays between cleanings.

Care and cleaning

Take the CM251T12 out and blow it through with a compressor, always from the clean side outwards so the dirt is pushed back the way it entered. Water is the second step and only once air has stopped being enough: lukewarm, with a little mild detergent, rinsed until nothing more comes out of the material. It then dries in moving air alone, however long that takes, and returns to the box dry and untreated. Heat of any kind, and any flame, will ruin it.
