The 703F entered this catalogue with a complete set of media already against its name: the standard weave, a 7-micron mat for extreme going, and this racing element, all listed from the same day. That sequence deserves a moment. Nobody had yet ridden the machine long enough to discover a requirement. What existed was a housing — and once a housing exists, every material in the range can be cut to that outline and printed underneath it.

By Sprint Filter's own account its filters are the most used in MotoGP, Moto3, World Superbike, Supersport and Superstock — the manufacturer describing where its products turn up, not an independent survey, and best read as exactly that. What crosses over from a paddock is a working habit rather than a lap time: the element is pulled and blown through between outings. Absent that habit, the five extra microns are surrendered continuously while the flow headroom goes unused. The part asks close to two and a half times what the standard weave asks, and neither of them will make a series 703F any stronger.

Care and cleaning

Work an air line across the clean face and push the load outward, between outings on a circuit and at every service on the road. Residue that resists comes away in lukewarm water with a drop of mild detergent, rinsed until nothing clouds the run-off. Then let it stand in moving air until genuinely dry; warmth of any kind, whether from a gun, a radiator or a flame, ruins polyester before any damage is visible.
