The RS was the sharp end of the 1050 range, and it arrived in 2018 with fuelling signed off as a complete system: airbox volume, intake tract, throttle bodies and the map that ties them together were homologated as one package. That is the context in which the phrase “no remap required” should be read. It is not modesty about the PM193S — it is a statement about how little the element disturbs. The Sprint Filter P08 fills the space the factory element filled and hands the airbox the same job.
Key Features
- Dry polyester weave, used without oil at any point, so the air-mass sensor and the throttle bodies stay clean
- Rated at 80 µm filtration and 5,050 l/m²/sec of flow — the road and track setting in the Sprint Filter media range
- A finer weave holds back more and flows less; that is a trade, not a ranking, and the P08 sits where it suits a road bike
- About twice as much filtering material is folded into the housing as a conventional performance element carries
- Slots into the untouched standard airbox, so the certified intake geometry stays as Triumph specified it
- Cleaned and refitted rather than replaced, with the warranty running two years from purchase
Why nothing has to be remapped
A remap becomes necessary when the air reaching the engine changes enough that the fuelling cannot follow. Two things prevent that here. A road air filter is a small part of the total intake restriction — the inlet, the plenum and the throttle bodies stand in the way before the element does, and none of them is touched. And the RS runs closed-loop fuelling that trims itself around the oxygen sensor. The change lands inside the range the standard calibration already covers. The corollary deserves saying plainly: a change small enough to need no remap is far too small to show as a power figure.
What the RS owner gets instead
A stable intake and one less consumable. The factory element is a cellulose part with a service life: its resistance rises the whole time it is fitted, and the bike never mentions it, because the fuelling compensates until the element is well past its best. The PM193S is brought back to its original condition with compressed air, so the intake spends its life near the low end of its restriction range instead of drifting up to a replacement point.
Care and cleaning
Hold an air line to the clean face of the PM193S and let the dirt leave through the inlet side; that is the whole of routine maintenance. A hard season earns a wash: lukewarm water, a little mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. Dry it in moving air only — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — and put it back in the airbox dry. Oil belongs nowhere near this element. The maintenance sheet is filed in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Triumph Speed Triple RS, the 1050 built from 2018 to 2020 — not the 1200 that inherited the RS name in 2021, which takes a different element. Three machines share this filter: the RS, the Speed Triple R of 2016 to 2017 and the Speed Triple S of 2016 to 2020. The full list is in the Fitment tab.
