DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 041 takes the reed valve assembly off the Multistrada V2S's cylinder head and closes the opening properly rather than leaving a capped hose in its place.
Key Features
- Ducati Multistrada V2S (2022–2024)
- Blanks the secondary air ports in the cylinder head
- Machined from solid aluminium
- O-ring sealed, no jointing compound
- Original fastener positions
- Standard housing refits at any time
Heated Grips and Cruise Control
Both standard on the S, because the people buying one use it for genuine distance rather than for weekend rides.
What Leaves the Engine
The housing, its reeds, the hose to the airbox and the clips holding it. The top of the motor ends up visibly less cluttered.
Torque Into Aluminium
The fasteners thread into the head and Ducati specifies a figure for good reason. Guessing at it turns a twenty-minute job into a thread repair.
The Complete Mechanical Picture
Airbox, hose, reed assembly and cylinder head port, in that order. The cover closes the last of those and the airbox end needs its own answer.
A Tidier Engine
On a motorcycle where the engine is part of the styling, a milled cover reads as considered where a plastic box reads as merely necessary.
Heat Cycles, Not Kilometres
A garage queen's reeds age at the same rate as a courier's. Low mileage protects the inside of the motor and does nothing for the plastic bolted to the outside.
Access Is the Real Cost
The part itself takes twenty minutes. Getting the tank and frequently the airbox out of the way is what fills the evening, which is the whole argument for doing the electrical half in the same session rather than paying for the same access twice.
Working Around the Belts
On the older twins the cambelt covers sit close to where the hand needs to go, and it is worth knowing which fasteners are which before starting. Nothing about the secondary air housing requires the belt covers to come off, and taking them off unnecessarily invites a job nobody wanted.
The Twin in a Touring Chassis
Ducati kept the smaller Testastretta for the V2 and asked it to run a heavy, fully equipped motorcycle at legal speeds for hours. That is a duty cycle the superbike version never sees, and the parts bolted to the outside of the heads age accordingly.
Half Fairing, Full Access
The panels on this model come away in large pieces rather than in the interlocking sequence a superbike demands, which makes reaching the front cylinder head genuinely quick. The rear one is still the awkward half, and it is still where most of the afternoon goes.
