DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 007 is the electrical half of Ducati's secondary air deletion, and on the Diavel 1260 it takes the place of the solenoid the engine controller spends its life watching.
Key Features
- Ducati Diavel 1260 (2019–2023)
- Takes the secondary air solenoid out of the circuit
- No warning on the instrument panel
- Plugs into Ducati's own connector
- Nothing cut, nothing spliced
- Standard valve refits at any time
Variable Valve Timing
Ducati's DVT system adjusts both camshafts, which gives the big twin a genuinely flat torque curve. On a cruiser that matters more than the peak.
Why Ducati Fits It
Because a drive cycle measures what leaves the silencer rather than what happens inside the engine, and burning the residue afterwards is the cheapest way to reach the figure.
Combine It With Something Else
Doing this alongside a filter change or an exhaust fitting means the bodywork comes off once. On its own it is a perfectly reasonable and slightly wasteful evening.
Heat Cycles, Not Kilometres
The reeds sit at cylinder head temperature and flex on every closed throttle. They fail with age rather than distance, which surprises owners of low-mileage machines.
A Component Nobody Is Told About
Ducati does not mention secondary air at handover and the handbook barely acknowledges it. Most owners learn it exists when an exhaust makes its consequences audible.
A Ducati Performance Catalogue
The factory sells racing exhausts and mapping through its own accessory programme, which is unusual and means owners modify with a certain confidence.
Why Every Modern Ducati Has One
Emissions cycles measure what leaves the pipe rather than what happens inside the cylinder, so burning residue afterwards is a legitimate way to pass. It costs the manufacturer almost nothing.
Why It Costs More Than a Resistor
A resistor and some heatshrink will produce the same electrical result for a fraction of the money, and it will work until water finds the crimp or vibration finds the joint. The difference here is a potted body with the correct connector moulded on, sitting in one of the hottest and wettest parts of the motorcycle for the rest of its life.
Alongside an Aftermarket Exhaust
A different silencer changes what the exhaust gas is doing but not what the secondary air system injects into it, so the two are entirely separate decisions. Owners often make them in the same week, which is fine, but the mapping should follow both rather than sitting between them and being redone twice.
