DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP KS DU005 is fitted to the Panigale 1199 R when the machine stops being ridden on roads and the key stops being something worth carrying.
Key Features
- Ducati Panigale 1199 R (2012–2017)
- Replaces the original ignition block, key and lock
- Around 350 g off the top yoke
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal
- IP69K sealed push button
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
Built for the Rulebook
The R carried titanium rods and a race kit ECU in the crate, sold in the numbers World Superbike required. Almost none of them are used as road bikes.
Plug and Play
It uses the motorcycle's own connector where the ignition block plugged in. Nothing in the loom is cut and nothing is soldered.
Why Racing Machines Lose It
A bike that lives in a van and a garage has nothing to be stolen from and nobody waiting to turn a key. The lock is mass and complication.
Vibration
A button on a yoke sees more of it than one on a handlebar. The body is machined and the switch is sealed for that reason.
Immobilisers
Where the key holds a transponder, the aerial around the barrel is part of the circuit. That question has to be answered before the barrel comes off, not after.
The Connector Question
It matches what the ignition block used on that motorcycle. That is why the catalogue is a list of models rather than a list of sizes.
The Ignition Block Is Three Things
A lock, a switch and on newer machines an immobiliser aerial. Racing removes the reason for the first and the third, and this part covers the second.
A Decade of Service
There is nothing inside to wear out and nothing outside to corrode. Fitted properly it outlasts most of what surrounds it on the motorcycle.
A Bike That Does Both
Road on weekdays, circuit on Sundays. That machine is the wrong candidate here, and the standard block is the better answer for it.
Race Harness Versions
Some models appear twice because a kit loom arranges the ignition side differently. Those are separate part numbers and the distinction is electrical rather than cosmetic. Fitting the road version to a race-wired machine does not work and is not a shortcut.
