DescriptionThe whole story▼
CK27009 closes the compartment inside the ZX-6R's race tail. On a modern middleweight that space holds a good deal more than a battery.
Key Features
- Carbon cover for the battery and electronics bay of the race tail
- Prepreg inner face, autoclave cured
- Presents a flat, defined surface inside the tail
- Exposed weave, no clearcoat
- Ordered separately from the CK27300 seat unit
What Actually Lives Back There
On a 2024 ZX-6R prepared for racing the tail typically carries the battery, a transponder, whatever the rider uses for lap timing, and the loom that used to run to the lighting. That is a lot of loose items in a space that vibrates, and a defined surface to mount them against is worth more than it sounds. A transponder in particular needs to sit in a repeatable position — moved from meeting to meeting it produces timing that drifts, and nobody looks for the cause in the tail.
Photograph It Before You Close It
The tail is the part of a race bike that gets rewired most often — a transponder moves, a logger is added, a loom gets tidied — and it is also the part nobody can see once the cover is on. Two minutes with a phone before closing it up saves an hour the next time something needs tracing. Do it with the cover off and the wiring as it will actually run, not as it looked on the bench.
The Case for Closing It
An open compartment behind the rider collects everything the tyre throws forward and offers a bridge between battery terminals to anything metallic that finds its way in. Several regulations require terminals to be covered. Even where they do not, this is the cheapest way to stop a dropped fastener becoming a dead short.
