DescriptionThe whole story▼

On the Yamaha XSR700, the rear brake is mostly used for balance and control: easing through slow traffic, holding the bike on a slope, smoothing out a stop at a junction, steadying the bike in a tight U-turn. For the XSR700 from 2016 to 2025, Accossato lists its AGPP88 rear pad, and this listing is the Organic (OR) compound. It suits everyday riders who want a quiet, progressive rear brake that is easy to dose with the ball of the foot and gentle on the rear disc.

Key Features

  • AGPP88 rear pad in Organic (OR) compound
  • For the XSR700, 2016 to 2025
  • Progressive, easily dosed pedal
  • Accossato: long performance and low disc wear
  • Quiet in town
  • One box for the rear caliper
  • ST version also available

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's Organic statement is about wear on both sides: the pad lasts and keeps performing, and the disc suffers little. A rear brake on a neo-retro that spends its days in town is used constantly but softly, so these two qualities do more for the owner than raw stopping power would. Accossato, founded in 1969 in Moncalieri, has built its pads around low wear, restrained heat and strong braking ever since.

Balance at Walking Pace

In slow city traffic, an XSR700 rider often uses a light drag of rear brake to keep the bike steady, particularly when filtering between queues or waiting to turn. An organic pad makes this easy, because the braking force follows small pedal movements rather than arriving in one step. It works immediately from cold and stays quiet in a car park. For riders who have recently moved up to a mid-size bike, a progressive rear brake adds confidence in tight manoeuvres, and the gentle treatment of the disc keeps running costs low over years of daily use.

Choosing ST Instead

If you ride two-up often or through wet winters, the ST version of AGPP88 is designed for that.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the rear wheel of the XSR700, Accossato gives AGPP88 across model years 2016 to 2025; the front brake takes AGPA97. There is only one rear caliper, so a single box does the job. When the old pads come out, check the disc for a lip at its outer edge and look at the colour of the fluid in the rear reservoir. Clean the pistons before easing them back, fit the new pair and press the pedal until it feels solid. A few relaxed stops finish the bedding-in.

Road Approval

No German ABE or test mark is available to us. The pad is offered for racing and competition use.
