DescriptionThe whole story▼
Consistency is what a rider asks of a front brake. The lever should arrive at the same place on lap ten as it did on lap two, because braking points are learned by feel and a lever that changes its mind makes that impossible. On a Panigale V4 R, ridden the way such a machine invites, the front system does more work in an afternoon than a touring bike's does in a season. The TS003 from Accossato caps its fluid reservoir in machined aluminium, anodised in seven colours.
Key Features
- Front brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Panigale V4 R
- Accossato lists 2019 and 2020 for this application
- Replaces the cap on the standard front reservoir
- Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment, anodised finish
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- FP004, FP007 and TS012 offered for the same motorcycle
- No German ABE held here; listed for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the TS003 out of aluminium and colours it by anodising, in blue, green, black, orange, red, silver or gold. Anodised colour is worked into the metal, so the finish tolerates the handling a bar-mounted component gets. The cap is made for the front reservoir Ducati mounts on the machines named in the application list, which is why fitting it changes nothing about the way the brake works on a Panigale V4 R. Under the original cap sits a diaphragm that has been doing its job unseen; check that it is supple and undamaged, and replace it if it is not, before the new cap goes on.
The Same Lever Feel, Lap After Lap
Most of what keeps lever feel consistent happens away from the cap. Fluid that has taken up moisture over a couple of seasons behaves differently once heat arrives, pads and fluid both have their intervals, and the owner's manual sets them out; a machine used on circuit sits at the hard end of every one of those figures. Renewing the fluid is a workshop job that ends with a proper bleed. What the owner can do is everything around it, carefully. Stand the Panigale V4 R upright, turn the bars until the reservoir is horizontal, and lay a cloth over the tank and the fairing with water close by, because brake fluid spoils paint and delay makes it permanent. Clean the top of the reservoir before opening. Look at the level between the marks and at the colour of the fluid. Close it again promptly, as an open reservoir draws damp air into the system. Then fit the TS003, tighten it gently and evenly, and pull the lever a number of times in the garage. If it comes back to the same point every time, the job is done.
Fitment and Compatibility
The application list from Accossato covers the front reservoir of the Panigale V4 R in 2019 and 2020. The cap replaces the original and the reservoir itself stays in place; where a different front master cylinder has been fitted, that list is the reference. We also carry this cap for the Monster 1200 R, the Hypermotard 821 and Aprilia's Caponord 1200 Rally. Accossato covers the remaining points on this machine with the FP004, the FP007 and the TS012.
Road Approval
Since neither a German ABE nor a test mark for the TS003 has reached us, the cap is sold as a racing and competition item.
Scope of Delivery
