DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first Dorsoduro 750s are well into their second decade, and many have covered a lot of kilometres with more than one owner. The clutch lever shows that age sooner than most parts: a scuffed tip from a tip-over, a finish rubbed thin where gloves rest, sometimes a trace of wobble at the pivot. The Accossato ESC023 is a new clutch lever for the Dorsoduro 750 of 2008 to 2016, milled from aluminium and anodised, with an adjustable reach and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Replacement clutch lever for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750, 2008 to 2016
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable close to the pivot
- Standard blade (about 138 mm) in all colours; short and long in selected colours
- Seven anodised blade colours, hub always black
- CNC-machined from solid aluminium
- No folding mechanism; one rigid blade
- No German ABE documented, sold for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Behind the colour sits a plain but important choice of process. The ESC023 is shaped on CNC machines from a solid piece of aluminium, which gives a dense, uniform part without the porosity that casting can leave. It is then anodised: black at the hub, where the pivot bore and the reach adjuster are, and in your chosen colour along the blade. The blade is rigid from end to end, with no folding joint that could add play of its own to the play you are trying to get rid of.
Years of Use at the Pivot
A clutch lever moves thousands of times on every long ride, and over the years the bore at the pivot and the pin through it wear. The result is a lever that rattles faintly at idle and moves sideways before it moves backwards, which blurs the feel of the friction point. Riders often blame the clutch itself when the lever is the part that has aged. On an older Dorsoduro 750, fitting a new lever is a simple way to find out, and a good moment to look at the rest: clean and lightly grease the pivot, inspect the cable or line, and check the free play once everything is back together.
Then set the reach for the rider the bike has now, not for whoever owned it before. With the blade at the point where your fingers meet it without stretching, the take-up lands where you expect it. The standard length is closest to the original; the long blade in blue, gold, green or orange lightens the pull, and the short one in blue, gold, green, orange or silver suits riders who work the clutch with two fingers.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESC023 is listed by Accossato for the Dorsoduro 750 from 2008 to 2016 and replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting. Accossato's entry for this clutch lever names the standard Dorsoduro 750 only. The Factory version appears in the list for the brake lever but not in this one, so Factory owners should compare their original clutch lever with the photos before ordering. The matching brake lever is the EDF023.
Road Approval
The ESC023 has no documented German ABE, the general operating permit; we sell it for use on the track.
