DescriptionThe whole story▼
The K 1600 GT is made for journeys that cross mountain ranges, and in the Alps or in Norway that means tunnels, sometimes dozens of them in a single day. Riding into one from bright sunshine, your eyes need several seconds to adjust, and the road surface just inside can be damp or dusty. It is a moment for smooth, early braking. The EDB077 is one of two Accossato brake levers listed for the K 1600 GT of 2017 to 2019: CNC-machined, mounted on the original master cylinder and adjustable in reach, so it meets your hand where you want it.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the BMW K 1600 GT, listed for 2017 to 2019
- Fits the original master cylinder in place of the BMW lever
- Reach adjustable near the pivot
- Standard blade about 138 mm in all seven colours
- Short in blue, gold, green, orange and silver; long in blue, gold, green and orange
- CNC-machined, anodised aluminium with black hub
- Fixed lever without a folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Like Accossato's other levers in this range, the EDB077 is milled from aluminium on CNC machines and then anodised. Its hub, where the pivot bore and the reach adjuster sit, is black; its blade is black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green, as you prefer. The colour belongs to the anodised surface, so gloves and cleaning do not chip it. There is no hinge: the blade is fixed and made in one piece, which keeps the response at its tip the same however hard or gently you squeeze.
Into the Tunnel
A tunnel entrance on a sunny day is a black hole until your eyes adapt. A tinted visor makes it darker still, and in the first seconds inside, the lane markings, the kerb and any debris are hard to see. The surface at the portal is often the worst in the whole tunnel: damp from dripping water in spring, dusty in summer, and sometimes slick where the tarmac changes. The sensible approach is to reduce speed before the entrance, in daylight, with a smooth squeeze of the brake while you can still see everything clearly, and then to enter at a pace that lets you stop within what you can see. Braking suddenly inside, half blind, is what you want to avoid. On a K 1600 GT carrying luggage, that early, gentle braking is easiest when the lever meets your fingers without a stretch. With the EDB077's reach adjusted, and perhaps a clear visor on a route with many tunnels, the transitions become routine.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDB077 appears in Accossato's list for the K 1600 GT of 2017 to 2019. For bikes of those years the list also names the EDB001, which covers the K 1600 GT from 2011 to 2022, so compare your existing lever with the product photos to see which one matches. The EDB077 mounts on the original master cylinder. For the clutch, Accossato's lever for the 2017 to 2022 bikes is the ESC075.
Road Approval
The EDB077 has no documented German ABE. We therefore offer it as a part for the racetrack.
