DescriptionThe whole story

The standard organic pad on a Z250SL is usually the first component its owner outgrows. ZCOO's shape here is the N011: 42.0 mm tall, 96.7 mm long, 7.5 mm deep. The compound is EX Race, which on the Kawasaki Z250SL builds force with the lever instead of ahead of it.

Key Features

  • Compatible with the standard Nissin retaining pin and spring of the Z250SL - nothing else to buy
  • Laser-cut backing plate holds the friction face flat when the Nissin caliper spreads under peak line pressure
  • Supplied as a pack of two - the exact set the Nissin caliper of the Z250SL takes
  • Ceramic sintering rather than a resin binder, so there is nothing in the N011 to cook out at the top of the range
  • No bedding-in ritual: the N011 reaches its working friction level within the first few stops
  • A pack holds two differently shaped pads - ZRM-N011ZM-B at 96.7 by 42.0 mm and ZRM-N011ZM-A at 77.0 by 42.0 mm - matched to the two sides of the caliper

Construction and Material Quality

Two things define how a N011 behaves: the ceramic mixture and the plate under it. The ceramic content is what lets the N011 form a protective film on a Z250SL disc instead of abrading it. Both details exist so the N011 keeps its pressure distribution honest as it wears down.

Performance and Feel

The useful measure of a Z250SL pad is not one hard stop but a hundred ordinary ones. The lever pressure needed for a given deceleration barely moves as heat builds through a session on the Z250SL. On a Z250SL with one front disc, everything depends on the pad holding its level.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the Kawasaki Z250SL, 2015 to 2017, on the Nissin fitment. The N011 fits the front axle of the Z250SL and nothing else. The same N011 shape covers 13 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 96.7 mm length and 42.0 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
