DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES RSV4 blanks the Tuono V4 1100's secondary air ports with plugs turned from solid aluminium.
Key Features
- Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 (2011–2020)
- Blanks the secondary air ports in both heads
- Machined from solid aluminium
- O-ring sealed, no jointing compound
- Original fastener positions
- Standard housings refit at any time
Two Housings
One on each cylinder bank, plumbed to the airbox. They admit air into the exhaust ports on a closed throttle and do nothing else.
Easier Here Than on the Superbike
With no fairing to remove, reaching the tank and the airbox is quicker on a Tuono. The rear bank is still the awkward part.
Ten Seventy-Seven
Aprilia enlarged the Tuono's V4 in 2015 while leaving the superbike at a litre, chasing midrange rather than a peak figure.
Machined From Solid
One piece per bank with an O-ring in a turned groove. Nothing inside ages and nothing needs inspecting again.
Heat Cycles
Plastic bolted to a cylinder head takes more thermal movement than almost anything else on a motorcycle. Aluminium is indifferent to it.
Before a Remap
Air entering the exhaust after combustion shifts the lambda readings, and every fuelling decision afterwards inherits that shift.
Original Fasteners
Aprilia's own bolt positions and torque values, with nothing drilled in either head.
Only Half the System
The solenoid circuit is monitored separately and needs its own part before the panel stays clear.
Homologation
The system is part of the approval and its removal ends road legality in Europe.
Reversible
Both standard housings refit on their own fasteners at any point.
Ten Model Years Under One Part
Aprilia left this arrangement alone across the whole run of the 1100, which is unusual over that length of time and means a single pair of blanks fits every bike in the period. Almost everything else about the motorcycle changed at least once.
An Upright Rider in Clean Air
Without a fairing the exhaust note arrives at the rider directly, which is why the crackle on a trailing throttle is a Tuono conversation rather than an RSV4 one. Owners chase it through mapping for months before anybody mentions where it actually comes from.
