DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato's ZXC ceramic racing material is the option a rider reaches for when a weekend is going to be spent making small changes and reading what the machine says back. On the Ducati Monster 1200 25° Anniversario of 2019 the front wheel takes the AGPA106 plate, and this article, AGPA106ZXC, carries that ceramic compound. The firm describes it as a ceramic mixture suited to racing, and it stands alongside three other materials on the same plate for precisely that reason: the choice itself is part of the setup.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Monster 1200 25° Anniversario, 2019
- AGPA106ZXC: the AGPA106 plate with the ZXC ceramic racing material
- Accossato presents the compound as a ceramic mixture for racing
- One of four materials offered on the same front plate
- Two calipers at the front, one box each
- Two pads per box
- Sibling materials on this plate: ST, EV1 and EV2
- No German ABE recorded; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic is the word Accossato uses for this mixture and racing is the setting it names for it. Beyond that the factory says little, which is normal where recipes are concerned and is why the useful information comes from the rider rather than from the label. The carrier plate is the AGPA106, the same component under all four listings, so moving from one compound to another changes the surface that meets the disc and leaves the geometry inside the caliper exactly as it was.
Between Sessions in the Paddock
Setting a machine up over a weekend works by changing one thing at a time. Suspension clickers on Saturday morning, gearing at lunch, tyre pressure before the afternoon outing, and friction material treated the same way: picked at the start of the event and then left alone so everything else can be judged against it. A Monster 1200 under a paddock awning is a simpler proposition than a full race bike, which makes that discipline easier to keep than it sounds.
A few garage habits pay for themselves. Mark the pads left and right when they come out so they go back the way they came. Fit a fresh set on the Friday if the current ones are close to the end, rather than halfway through Sunday when the weather has turned and nobody can say afterwards what caused what. And when the machine is loaded into the van, leave the front brake off; a hot caliper clamped against a hot disc all the way home leaves a mark on the face that nobody wants to find.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA106 at the front of the 25° Anniversario version of the Monster 1200, model year 2019. The standard Monster 1200 of 2014 to 2021 is a different fitment and takes the AGPA177. At the rear, the AGPA42 runs across 2014 to 2021. The Accossato disc range includes the DK053 and the DKS053 for this bike. Two front calipers mean two boxes, and if the plan is to run one material all weekend, a spare set belongs in the van as well.
Road Approval
No German ABE reached us with the AGPA106ZXC, nor any inspection report, so the article is sold for racing and closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA106 pads in the ZXC material, one caliper's set. The Monster 1200 needs a second box for the other side of the front wheel.
