DescriptionThe whole story▼

Accossato's AGPA221 front pad fits the Zontes ZT 125, which the catalogue lists in its Panther and Tiger versions for 2009 to 2015. This is the Organic (OR) compound. A 125 of this kind is usually a first motorcycle, a learner's bike or a cheap and cheerful commuter, and its brakes are used in exactly the conditions an organic pad is made for: short trips, cold starts, city traffic and riders still finding their feel for the lever.

Key Features

  • AGPA221 front pads for the Zontes ZT 125, 2009-2015
  • Listed for the Panther and Tiger versions
  • Organic (OR) compound
  • Longer performance, less disc wear, according to Accossato
  • Progressive lever for new riders
  • Only other compound for this pad: ZXC
  • Two pads per box, one caliper

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato attributes two main qualities to its organic pads: they keep performing for longer, and they limit wear on the disc. On a light 125 used for daily errands, that means a set of pads that lasts and a disc that is spared. The organic mix is designed for moderate temperatures, which a small commuter rarely exceeds, and it works from the first stop without warming up. Accossato was founded in 1969 in Moncalieri near Turin.

A Good Pad for a First Motorcycle

New riders on a ZT 125 are still learning how much lever pressure produces how much stopping. A progressive organic pad helps, because the braking force builds gradually rather than arriving all at once. That makes it easier to practise controlled stops, to brake gently in a bend and to avoid locking the front wheel on a wet road. The same soft character suits riding-school use, where bikes are braked hundreds of times a day at low speed. Check the pads regularly anyway, as learners tend to use the front brake a lot, and replace the brake fluid at the recommended interval.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA221 for the front of the Zontes ZT 125 Panther and ZT 125 Tiger, both from 2009 to 2015. The sheet names no other Accossato pads or discs for this bike. When fitting, replace both pads together, clean the caliper piston before pushing it back and pump the lever until it is firm. Bed the pads in with a series of gentle stops before relying on full braking.

Road Approval

No ABE or approval documents are available to us for this pad, so it is offered for racing and competition use.
