DescriptionThe whole story▼

Qualifying is an odd discipline. Everything hangs on one lap out of a dozen, the tyres are at their peak for about two of them, and the rider has to be at full commitment while the brake is already as hot as it will get all day. For a Ducati Hypermotard 950 prepared for that, Accossato presses the AGPA177 plate in its EV2 racing compound, article AGPA177EV2, listed for the 950 from 2019 to 2024 and summed up by the company as a top racing compound.

Key Features

  • Front brake pads for the Ducati Hypermotard 950, seasons 2019 to 2024
  • AGPA177EV2: Accossato's EV2 racing compound on the AGPA177 plate
  • The maker calls the material a top racing compound
  • Made for repeated heavy work at the hot end of a session
  • One box equals one caliper; the front of this Ducati has two
  • ST, EV1 and ZXC cover the same plate for less severe use
  • Rear pads for the same model years: the AGPA42
  • No approval papers and no German ABE here; competition equipment

Construction and Material Quality

Hard is the word for this face, and Accossato's own phrase for it is a top racing compound. The behaviour that follows will be familiar to anyone who has used competition material: a modest response while everything is cold, then a firm and unchanging answer once heat is in the system, held there because the compound limits how far its own temperature climbs. Under a Hypermotard 950 that counts at the front wheel above all, since a supermoto loads its front tyre heavily the instant the lever is touched.

Chasing a Qualifying Time

A quick lap is built out of slowing points rather than corners. The rider carries speed as deep as the tyre allows, gets the machine turned and picks the throttle up early, and each of those three things depends on knowing exactly what the lever will do. Doubt at the front costs a tenth in every braking zone, and there are usually a dozen of them. That is why teams change pads before a session rather than in the middle of a weekend, and why a fresh set is bedded in during a practice run and not on the lap that counts. Watch the fluid level on a Hypermotard 950 as the pads wear, because a reservoir filled to the brim with new pads will overflow the moment somebody pushes the pistons back.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's entry for the AGPA177 runs from 2019 to 2024 at the front of the Hypermotard 950. Each box contains the two pads one caliper takes, and this machine has a caliper on both sides, which means two boxes for a full change and a sensible number to keep in the van. The rear of the same bike uses the AGPA42 for the same period, the RVE version appears in the catalogue as a separate entry with identical pad references, and the disc listed here is the DKS053.

Road Approval

There is no German ABE for this article in our records, and no other approval document accompanies it. It is sold as competition equipment for use on a circuit.

Scope of Delivery

A box of two AGPA177EV2 pads, the set for one front caliper of the 950.
