DescriptionThe whole story▼

Some enduro events include a short, man-made test built from logs, tractor tyres, rocks and concrete pipes, often in front of the biggest crowd of the weekend. On a Husqvarna FE 350 it is ridden in the lowest gears, and much of it depends on placing the front wheel exactly where you want it. Accossato's B8283 fits the FE 350 from 2014 to 2018 as a folding brake lever, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075. Its blade is short, for three fingers, and can fold forward if the bike drops off an obstacle.

Key Features

  • Folding brake lever for the Husqvarna FE 350, 2014 to 2018
  • Listed for the 2014–2016 and 2017–2018 versions
  • Mounts on the original front brake master cylinder
  • Short blade for three fingers
  • Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold on impact
  • CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, made in Italy
  • Blade in black, blue or orange
  • No German ABE documented; for off-road riding and competition

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato makes its off-road levers in Italy, and it makes them the demanding way: each B8283 is CNC-machined from a solid piece of Ergal 7075, the high-strength aluminium alloy it relies on for strength, low weight and reliability. The lever is built in two sections. A dark base sits on the pivot of the FE 350's original front brake master cylinder, and the blade, black, blue or orange, is linked to the base by the folding joint. The blade is the short type Accossato uses on brake levers, sized for three fingers.

The Extreme Test

An extreme test is less about speed than about precision. The line over a stack of tyres or a row of logs is often a single spot where the front wheel must touch down, and reaching it means controlling the bike's speed down to walking pace. Riders use the front brake to stop the forward roll at exactly the right moment, then release it as the clutch lifts the front over the next obstacle. On the FE 350, a light and manageable four-stroke, it can look almost easy when done well. Done badly, the bike stops on top of a log with nowhere to put a foot.

Falls in these tests are rarely fast, but they happen from height. A front wheel slips off a wet log and the bike drops on to rock or another log, often landing on its side with the bars first. If it lands on the right, the brake lever is trapped between the bike and a hard edge. The B8283's blade can fold forward at the joint rather than snapping, which gives the rider a fair chance of carrying on with a working front brake. Spectators at these tests see plenty of broken levers; a folding one is a way of not adding to the count, though it will not come through every drop.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the B8283 for the Husqvarna FE 350 in two version groups, 2014 to 2016 and 2017 to 2018, fitted in place of the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder. The clutch side is split along the same lines: the C7283 for the earlier group, the C7284 for 2017 and 2018. All three levers come in black, blue and orange; the C7283 is also available in red.

Road Approval

No German ABE is documented for the B8283. If your FE 350 is registered for the road, note that the lever is not approved for public roads; it is intended for off-road riding and competition.

Scope of Delivery
