DescriptionThe whole story▼

For 2021 Yamaha replaced the Tracer 900 GT with the Tracer 9 GT, a new generation of its three-cylinder sport tourer with a larger engine, a new chassis and a long list of touring equipment, cruise control included. On a long motorway stage the right hand spends much of its time resting while the system holds the speed, and then has to be back on the brake the moment traffic slows. The Accossato EDF016 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the Tracer 9 GT of 2021 to 2023, with an adjustable distance to the grip.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, 2021 to 2023
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Distance to the grip set by an adjuster near the pivot
  • Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) and long blades, depending on the colour
  • Black anodised hub, blade in one of seven colours
  • Machined from aluminium on CNC equipment
  • Rigid blade without a folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF016 is milled from aluminium rather than cast, and the machining defines the profile of the blade as well as the seats for the pivot and the reach adjuster. Anodising follows, in two colours: the hub always black, the blade in the colour you choose. On a touring bike parked outside for days at a time, that matters: anodised colour belongs to the metal and cannot flake off like paint. The lever is fixed from hub to tip, so there is no second pivot that could work loose over a long season on the Tracer 9 GT.

From Cruise Control to the Brake

Cruise control changes how the right hand spends a motorway day. With the speed set, the grip can be held loosely and the fingers often drift away from the lever altogether. When the traffic ahead slows, the hand has to come back, find the blade and start braking, and on most systems a first touch of the brake is also what switches the cruise control off. A lever that sits far from the grip makes that return slower and less precise. On the Tracer 9 GT it is worth setting the reach so that the fingers land on the blade in one natural movement from the relaxed position, even in thick touring gloves. Then rehearse the sequence on a quiet road: set the speed, relax, and bring the fingers to the lever for a gentle first squeeze that cancels the system before you build up to a firmer stop. The long EDF016, made in blue, gold, green and orange, gives four fingers room once the stop becomes serious, while the standard blade stays closest to the original lever.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF016 for this bike from 2021 to 2023, still under the older name Tracer 900 GT; those model years belong to the Tracer 9 GT that replaced it. The lever takes the place of the stock blade on the original master cylinder. For the clutch side of the same Tracer 9 GT, Accossato names the ESV04A, available in the same colours.

Road Approval

No documentation of a German ABE exists for the EDF016, so the lever is sold for track use.

Scope of Delivery

The EDF016 ships as a single brake lever in an Accossato box, with the colour and blade length of your order.
