DescriptionThe whole story▼
The ZX-10RR exists because racing rules require it. Kawasaki built it as the homologation version of the ZX-10R, the production basis for its World Superbike machines, and a bike like that deserves controls chosen with the track in mind. The Accossato EDF099 is a brake lever for the ZX-10RR of 2017 to 2020. CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, it mounts on the original master cylinder, and the gap between blade and grip can be adjusted.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Kawasaki ZX-10RR, 2017 to 2020
- Mounts on the original front master cylinder
- Reach to the grip adjustable
- Short blade in five colours, long blade in four
- Standard blade approx. 138 mm, available in every colour
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised with a black hub
- Rigid blade, no folding joint
- No German ABE documented; intended for the track
Construction and Material Quality
Milling on CNC machines holds the pivot and adjuster dimensions of the EDF099 precisely and gives the blade its clean profile. Anodising then colours the blade to your order and gives it a hard-wearing surface, while the hub is left black. Nowhere between hub and tip is there a folding joint; the lever is rigid throughout. For a part that will spend its life at race pace, that simplicity is the point: fewer parts, and less that can work loose.
From the Superbike Paddock
Accossato's knowledge of braking does not come from catalogue work alone. The company's experience with brake discs has been gathered in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, classes in which stability and consistency over a race distance decide results. That background suits a lever meant for a ZX-10RR, because on a homologation superbike the front brake is used hard, repeatedly and close to the limit of the tyre. What the rider needs from the lever is consistency: the same position, the same free travel and the same feel on the last lap as on the first. Many riders brake with two fingers on track, and the short blade is shaped for that grip; the standard length of approximately 138 mm is made in all seven colours.
Set Once, Then Left Alone
On a race weekend the lever should be the one thing that never changes. Before the first session, sit on the ZX-10RR in the gloves you race in, adopt your braking position and set the EDF099 so the blade reaches your braking fingers at the first joint without the wrist bending. Check that the brake light still responds and that the lever keeps its small free travel, then leave the adjuster untouched for the rest of the event.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDF099 is offered for the ZX-10RR of 2017 to 2020, the homologation model that Kawasaki introduced for 2017. In Accossato's list, the entry ZX-10RR 1000 opens with a season in which the RR had not yet been built; the product therefore starts with the model's first year. It replaces the lever on the original front master cylinder. The clutch side has its own Accossato lever for the same years, the ESK828.
Road Approval
Accossato has not documented a German ABE for the EDF099; it is sold for the race track.
Scope of Delivery
One EDF099 brake lever for the ZX-10RR, colour and length as chosen, comes packed in an Accossato box.
