DescriptionThe whole story▼
Please note: sale to France is prohibited.
Shoei's engineering heritage is written into every interior component of the X-SPR Pro, and the rear head pad XL5 (Type-P) is no exception. Designed specifically for the posterior helmet section, this slimmer-profile pad introduces additional space and a more relaxed fit around the nape and rear crown — a considered solution for riders with a broader occiput, heat-sensitive skin, or those who spend hours at a stretch in the saddle.
Key Features
- Slimmer rear module compared to the XL9 variant, providing a softer, more open fit in the posterior helmet segment
- Compatible with pads from the Full Set Hard or Full Set Soft sets (sold separately), allowing you to selectively re-snug the fit wherever needed
- Tool-free installation via integrated hook-and-loop fasteners — swap takes minutes with no risk of damage to the helmet interior
- Breathable foam construction maintains airflow comfort against the nape during extended riding sessions
- Individually exchangeable module, so you can fine-tune the balance between retention and freedom of movement without replacing the full liner
Design, Finish and Heritage
Shoei's reputation for premium interior engineering is built on decades of refining the contact points between helmet and rider. The XL5 Type-P pad reflects that philosophy: the material selection prioritises breathability and long-term comfort, the profile is calibrated to work in harmony with the X-SPR Pro shell geometry, and the hook-and-loop anchor system mirrors the discreet, precise fitment quality found throughout the helmet's interior. This is not a generic aftermarket foam insert — it is a factory-designed component, finished and dimensioned to Shoei's own specification.
Fine-Tuning Your Fit
The X-SPR Pro interior is a modular system, and the rear pad position is one of the most influential points for overall helmet feel. Fitting the XL5 in place of the standard rear pad opens up the nape area noticeably, relieving pressure for riders whose head shape sits wider at the back. Should you then find the cheek or crown areas need compensating adjustment, pads from the Full Set Hard or Full Set Soft ranges can be introduced at those specific locations, giving you a genuinely personalised fit without compromise.
To identify which pad size is currently installed in your helmet, check the label printed on the reverse of the fitted pad. Alternatively, the correct size can be cross-referenced against your helmet size.
