Manufacture and Tolerance
Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain. Seals are specified for temperature stability rather than for the lowest unit cost. Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against.

Choosing 150 N/mm
If the suspension bottoms out or the geometry collapses under load, this is the direction to go. Firm rates trade some small-bump comfort for support — the right trade on a good surface at speed. Heavier riders, two-up use and track days all push the choice towards this end. Ride quality on the road is decided by rate first and damping second.
How a Rear Spring Works
Because the linkage is progressive on most modern machines, a small change in rate moves the sag more than riders expect. Öhlins sells rear springs separately precisely because rider weight varies more than machine weight does. On a linkage-equipped machine the wheel moves several millimetres for every millimetre the damper moves, and the spring rate has to account for that ratio.
Applications
This spring is chosen by its dimensions rather than by motorcycle model: check inner diameter, free length and rate against the fork it is going into. Sag figures, not feel, decide whether a rate is right. Öhlins publishes the targets for its own units. Selection is by measurement. If the diameter and free length match your fork, the remaining question is the rate.
