We ship with DHL and FedEx — express on request. If an item is in stock, express delivery can often go out within 1 business day. The Nolan Irid LC is not a photochromic visor, even though it is sold alongside them and solves the same problem. Understanding the difference is the whole point of the price.
Chemistry versus liquid crystal
A conventional photochromic lens darkens because a compound in the material reacts to ultraviolet light. Reactions take time — several seconds to begin, considerably longer to reverse, and both figures get worse when it is cold. The Irid LC works differently: a liquid-crystal layer is laminated into the lens and switched electrically. Clear to tinted takes under a second, and clearing again is just as quick, in summer and in February alike.
No battery, no charging, no button
An integrated high-sensitivity solar sensor harvests ambient light and drives the crystal matrix from it. There is nothing to plug in, nothing to remember to charge and nothing to operate — and because the sensor reads the light actually falling on the visor, the tint tracks conditions in real time rather than lagging behind them.
The three moments it pays for itself
The mouth of a tunnel. The exit of one. A westbound road at sunset. Those are the situations where a chemical photochromic leaves you riding effectively blind for a few seconds, and where riders reach up to lift a visor one-handed at precisely the wrong time. Removing that gap is a safety argument before it is a convenience one.
Built for year-round use
Sealed to be fully waterproof and specified to keep working through temperature extremes, from a winter commute to a July tour. It carries a premium anti-fog treatment for clear, distortion-free vision in damp and cold.
Homologation — read this before ordering
The Irid LC is fully road homologated, for daytime use only. It is not approved for riding at night. If you ride after dark, you still need the clear visor.

Made for the X-804 RS Ultra Carbon and fitting all four of its shell sizes, changed by hand on the standard visor mechanism.
