The gloss topcoat is applied with the same attention to detail as the laminate beneath it. The finish is hard-wearing and resistant to petrol splash and chain lubricant, but it should be cleaned only with neutral, pH-balanced products to preserve the high-gloss clarity of the surface over time. Avoid solvent-based cleaners or abrasive cloths that can dull the resin coat.
Road and Track Use
On the RSV4 the swingarm is a highly visible structural component, and covering it with a properly made carbon part rather than a generic fairing piece sends a clear message about build standards. For track use, the weight saving — however modest in isolation — contributes to a reduction in rotating and reciprocating mass, and the improved rigidity of the cover means it will not flex or crack under the lateral loads that can stress plastic parts during hard acceleration out of slow corners.
