An Inline Four in a Twin's Market
Almost everything else at this price uses two cylinders. Kawasaki kept four and the difference in character is the whole reason to buy one.
Two Hundred and Twelve Kilograms
Wet, which is respectable for the class and carried low enough that the bike disguises it well once moving.
An Open Circuit
That is all the electronics see, and they cannot distinguish it from a deployed stand or a broken wire. All three produce identical behaviour.
Nothing Coded
No dealer session, no reset and no adaptation run. The circuit reads correctly from the first ignition cycle and the panel shows nothing at all.
The Cheapest Diagnosis
Before ordering anything, check whether the stand is straight, whether the mechanism is packed and whether the connector is corroded. Two of those cost nothing to fix and one of them usually works. Only when the switch has genuinely failed or the stand has gone does an eliminator become the right answer.
Two Minutes on a Paddock Stand
The connector sits within reach once the motorcycle is upright and supported, and no bodywork has to come off to get to it.
Weight Is Not the Point
The switch weighs nothing. This is about a component that has failed or a stand that has gone, and no honest description says otherwise.
On a Bike Being Prepared
The stand comes off with the mirrors, the plate and the lights, and none of it goes back until the motorcycle returns to the road. Fitting the eliminator then means the rest of the work can actually be tested.
A Trellis Frame
High-tensile steel tubing rather than cast aluminium, which keeps the cost down and gives the Z900 a slightly softer feel than its rivals. It is a deliberate choice rather than a saving.
