Ducati homologated aerodynamic appendages on the road bike after developing them in racing. They produce measurable downforce and they changed how the whole class looks.

Access Is the Real Cost
The part itself takes twenty minutes. Getting the tank and frequently the airbox out of the way is what fills the evening, which is the whole argument for doing the electrical half in the same session rather than paying for the same access twice.
Why the Cover Does Not Need a Gasket
The head face is machined and flat, so a rubber ring in a turned groove seals against it with the fastener load doing nothing more than holding the two together. A paper gasket in the same place would bond, tear on removal and leave the owner scraping a cylinder head for an hour.
Four Cylinders, Two Housings
Ducati's V4 carries a secondary air assembly on each bank, and the rear one sits under the tank in the tightest part of the motorcycle. Anybody quoting twenty minutes for this job has looked at the front cylinder and stopped there.
