DescriptionThe whole story▼
The splashguard sits between the rear tyre and everything behind it, and on an XDiavel that means it is protecting something unusual. This is the one Ducati with a belt final drive, and a drive belt does not want grit. The splashguard is the panel that keeps most of it out.
Key Features
- Shields the belt drive, the shock and the swingarm area from water and grit thrown by the rear tyre
- Four configurations across 200 Plain and 245 Twill, in clear coat or matt
- Autoclave carbon rather than moulded plastic, so it keeps its clearance instead of sagging towards the tyre
- Bolts to the original mounting points with the standard fasteners
- Sits low and gets dirty, which is why matt is the common choice here
Belt Drive Changes the Stakes
On a chain-drive motorcycle, grit in the drive is a maintenance nuisance: you clean it, you lube it, you move on. A toothed belt is less forgiving. Debris that works its way between belt and pulley abrades the tooth faces, and a belt does not announce that it is wearing until it is close to the end. Keeping the drive clean is therefore worth more on an XDiavel than the same effort on a Diavel 1260.
That is the functional half. The other half is the shock: the XDiavel rear unit sits directly in the spray path, and a shock kept out of salt water is a shock whose seals survive a northern European winter.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S, 2016 to 2024, on the original mounting points. Easiest to fit with the motorcycle on a stand and the rear wheel free to turn.
Road Approval
No ABE and no EC type-approval is published for this part. Spray-suppression components are sometimes looked at in a technical inspection; confirm the requirement for your registration before road use.
Fitting Order With the Rear Fender
If the rear fender MD-XD16-C11 is also going on, fit the splashguard first. It sits behind and below the fender, access is tighter, and working around a fender that is already torqued down turns a simple job into an awkward one.
Both parts share the general area but not their fixings, so there is no alignment interaction to worry about — this is purely about hand access. Twenty minutes in the right order, closer to an hour in the wrong one.
