DescriptionThe whole story▼
In 2017 the Shiver grew into the 900, with a reworked, larger V-twin, traction control and a new colour dashboard, while keeping the idea of an approachable naked bike for everyday roads. Many Shiver 900 owners ride from spring to autumn with little fuss and do only a few jobs themselves, which makes each of those jobs worth doing carefully. Changing the oil filler cap is one of the simplest. Accossato's FP001, CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised in eight colours and threaded M20x1.5, is listed for the Shiver 900 of 2017 to 2019.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Shiver 900, 2017 to 2019
- Includes the Euro 4 Navi version with ABS of 2019
- M20x1.5 thread according to Accossato
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Eight colours: gold, black, orange, silver, green, titanium, blue, red
- Can be used on other motorcycles with the same cap size once checked
- No German ABE documented, intended for the track
Construction and Material Quality
Gold, black, orange, silver, green, titanium, blue or red: the colour of the FP001 is part of its anodised surface, applied after Accossato has machined the aluminium body on CNC equipment. The thread measures M20x1.5. Besides fitting the applications on its list, the cap is, according to its maker, adaptable to other motorcycles that use a filler of the same size. Before it goes in for the first time, make sure the sealing face on the engine is clean and free of old residue.
The First Ride With the New Cap
Fitting the FP001 to a Shiver 900 is quickly done: engine off and cold, area around the filler cleaned, original cap out, new cap in by hand until it seats firmly. The real test comes afterwards. Make the first ride a short local one rather than a long day out, then stop and look at the filler and the engine below it. There should be no trace of oil. If you find a film, wipe it off and look again after the next stretch, because sometimes it is only oil spilled during a top-up. If it keeps coming back, let the engine cool, take the cap out and inspect the sealing face and thread for dirt or damage before refitting it by hand, never with force. The next morning, with the engine cold and the bike positioned as the owner's manual requires, check the oil level once more. When both the filler and the level look right, the job is finished and the cap only needs a glance at each wash.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FP001 for the Shiver 900 of 2017 and 2018 and for the Euro 4 Navi version with ABS of 2019. The same cap is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the Shiver 750, the Caponord 1200 Rally and the Benelli Leoncino 500. For the Shiver 900, Accossato also offers the TS004 front and TS013 rear brake fluid reservoir caps. If your Shiver 900 no longer has its original cap, compare the thread before ordering.
Road Approval
The FP001 is listed by us for racing and competition because we have no ABE or test mark for it.
