DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not every Monster 1200 R is ridden to the circuit. Many travel on a trailer, strapped down for a journey on motorways and bumpy side roads, and arrive with a clutch lever that has spent hours next to a ratchet strap or pressed against a side panel. Accossato's LV015 is a folding clutch lever for the 2016 to 2019 Monster 1200 R. It replaces the original lever on the hydraulic clutch master cylinder, has an adjustable reach and a blade that can fold on its hinge.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever, Monster 1200 R, 2016 to 2019
- Mounts on the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder
- Hinged blade that can fold under a knock
- Adjustable span between blade and grip
- CNC-machined, anodised aluminium
- Black base; blade in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver or titanium
- RST cut-out or solid NRST blade
- No documented German ABE: track use
Construction and Material Quality
There are two anodised aluminium parts in the LV015, both cut on CNC machines. The base is black and stays at the pivot, where it holds the reach adjuster; the blade takes whichever colour you choose and is attached to the base by a hinge. Titanium appears on the colour list as an anodised finish and has nothing to do with the metal of that name. An RST blade has a lightening cut-out machined into it; the NRST version is left without one.
Straps, Ramps and the Trailer Floor
Tying a Monster 1200 R down on a trailer takes a little thought. The handlebar is the obvious anchor point, but a strap looped close to the controls can press on the clutch lever for the entire journey, and a strap that loosens on a rough road lets the bike lean until the lever meets the trailer side. Soft loops around the bar well inboard of the controls, or around the lower fork, keep the straps clear, and a quick check at the first fuel stop catches anything that has settled.
Loading and unloading carry their own risks. A wet ramp or a foot slipping as you walk the bike up, and the Monster 1200 R ends up on its left side on the trailer floor. In those moments the LV015's hinge can let the blade fold instead of bending, which may save you from searching the paddock for a spare clutch lever before the first session. It cannot prevent every kind of damage, but it improves the odds against one of the most common.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list names the Monster 1200 R, US version included, for the LV015 from 2016 to 2019. The matching folding brake lever is the LV013, and for the front brake there is also the RA002 with a remote adjuster, both listed for the same years. The standard Monster 1200 and the 1200 S are listed separately.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the LV015; it is offered as a track part.
