DescriptionThe whole story▼
The F4 is not a motorcycle that makes compromises for comfort. Low clip-ons, high footpegs and a long reach over the tank put the rider in a crouch that works well at speed and asks a lot of the wrists at low speed. The left wrist has the hardest job, because it has to carry part of your weight and work the clutch at the same time. The Accossato ESH011 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the MV Agusta F4 of 2010 to 2018, adjustable for reach and offered in three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the F4, listed 2010 to 2018
- Entries include the F4 1000, F4 1000 S and F4 1000 R
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable reach
- Short, standard (about 138 mm) or long blade
- Anodised aluminium in two tones, black hub
- Rigid, hinge-free design
- Comes in an Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
CNC machining gives the ESH011 its shape, and anodising gives it colour. The hub, which carries the pivot and the adjuster, is black on every lever; the blade can be ordered in seven colours, each one bound into the surface of the aluminium rather than painted on. The lever is fixed. With no folding joint between hub and tip, all the effort of your fingers goes into the clutch, and none of it is lost as give at a hinge.
Stretched Over the Tank
In the F4's riding position, the palms carry weight whenever the bike is not braking hard or accelerating, and the left wrist bends downwards to reach the grip. Pulling a clutch lever from there combines two movements: the fingers close while the wrist has to stay firm. If the lever sits far from the grip, the fingers have to open wide first, and the wrist bends further to help them. Setting the ESH011 closer lets the fingers take the lever without the wrist moving, so the pull comes from the fingers alone. Take a few minutes to get it right. Sit on the F4 in your riding gear, lean into your normal position with some weight on the bars, and adjust until the blade sits under your fingers with the wrist as close to a straight line with the forearm as the bars allow. In traffic and in slow corners, the short blade suits two-finger clutch work; the long blade, made in blue, gold, green and orange, reduces the force needed for each pull.
Fitment and Compatibility
On the clutch side of the F4, Accossato's catalogue gives the ESH011 for every model year from 2010 to 2018. Its version list reads F4 1000, F4 1000 S (2010 to 2012) and F4 1000 R (2013 to 2015). The lever takes the place of the stock one at the original clutch mounting, and its partner for the right hand is the EDF099 brake lever, listed across the same nine seasons.
Road Approval
For this clutch lever no German ABE is documented; we supply it for track use.
