DescriptionThe whole story▼
Finished in coated black, this Accossato radial brake master cylinder pairs a 16 mm piston with an 18 mm pivot distance, a ratio Accossato recommends for track use but also suitable on the road. The matte-look painted body carries a black Revolution lever as standard, so the whole unit reads as one dark, understated component rather than drawing attention to itself on the bars. It is built for single-disc front brakes on mid-size roadsters, adventure bikes and tourers, where a firmer, more direct lever action is preferred over a long, soft stroke.
Key Features
- 16 mm piston diameter, suitable for single-disc braking systems
- Fixed 18 mm lever pivot distance, for track use and also suited to the road
- Forged aluminium body finished in coated black paint
- Black Revolution lever, reach adjusted by adding or removing inserts
- Offset riser that limits master cylinder flex under braking
- Passive lever stroke cut by more than 50 percent versus a standard radial unit
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato forges this master cylinder from aluminium before finishing the body in coated black paint, giving a low-key look that matches a black Revolution lever and most black-finished brake hardware already on a bike. Regardless of the colour applied, every unit in this line shares the same specified hardware: stainless steel mounting screws, a zinc-plated bleed valve and seals made from Formula 1 compound, chosen to withstand repeated heat cycles and prolonged brake fluid contact. An off-set riser in the mounting clamp resists bending of the body under hard braking, and the internal bore is shaped so the passive stroke, the travel before the pads bite, is reduced by more than half against a standard radial master cylinder.
Why an 18 mm Pivot Distance Suits Firmer Braking
On this coated black unit, Accossato pairs the 16 mm piston, specified for single-disc systems, with an 18 mm pivot distance, which the manufacturer positions as the track-oriented setting while still describing it as suitable for the road. A longer pivot distance shortens the lever stroke for the same amount of pad movement, so the brake feels more direct and bites sooner, at the cost of needing slightly more hand force than the softer 16 mm version in the same range. Because the ratio is fixed rather than adjustable through a PRS mechanism, the rider gets one consistent setting rather than something to dial in, which suits a bike that is ridden hard on occasion but still needs to work predictably in daily traffic.
Fitment and Compatibility
Our fitment data shows 54 motorcycles for this master cylinder across BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aprilia and Ducati, including the BMW R1200RT (2016-2018), the Honda CB1100 (2017-2021), the Kawasaki Z650 (2017-2023), the Suzuki DL1050 V-STROM (2020-2023) and the Ducati SCRAMBLER 400 (2016-2021). The complete list with exact model years is in the Fitment tab on this page; check it against your own registration before ordering. The same 16x18 body is also available as a separate product in blue, green, red, silver and fluorescent yellow paint.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
