Sprint Filter P14 Air Filter for Dusty Conditions – Kove 321RR (2021–2026) PM242P14

This is the same airbox as the standard 321RR element, filled with a different material and aimed at a different problem. Not every 321RR lives on sealed tarmac. Plenty of them are the fast, cheap way to cover distance in places where the road has a loose shoulder, where farm traffic leaves a film across the carriageway in summer, or where the last stretch home is gravel. The P14 exists for that rider, and the specification is honest about what it costs.

Reading the trade honestly

The standard P08 fabric on this machine closes at 80 microns and is rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec of material flow. This mat closes at 14 and is rated at 1,800. Finer weave, more retained, less through — those three move together and always will. The right way to use those numbers is to decide which side of them your riding sits on, not to rank one medium above the other. A 321RR that is mostly ridden hard on clean surfaces is better served by the coarser fabric. A 321RR that eats dust for a living is not.

What fine dust does that coarse dust does not

Visible dust settles behind the vehicle that raised it. The fraction that matters here is the part that hangs in the air long after, small enough to pass through an open weave and go where the air goes. It reaches the intake in quantities nobody notices, because there is nothing to notice until a service reveals it. A 14-micron mat is aimed precisely at that fraction, and because it is dry there is no oil film for the caught particles to be carried through on later. What none of this does is add power: an element in a standard airbox never made a standard motorcycle noticeably quicker, and this one makes no such claim. It keeps intake resistance low and predictable between cleanings, and it keeps the fine stuff out of the engine.

Care and cleaning

A dust filter earns its keep by being cleaned often, so make it easy on yourself: air line first, always applied to the clean face and blown outward so the load leaves the way it came. When a season of dry roads has packed the mat beyond what air will shift, warm water and a mild detergent with a full rinse will restore it.
