The Same Number as Standard

Spark publishes both readings on the same page: original 97 dB at 5,850 rpm, Spark 97 dB at 5,850 rpm. For an aftermarket exhaust carrying a racing silencer that is an unusual thing to print, and it settles the question most owners actually have.

What changes is not the level but the character. A three-cylinder with a Spark box and a titanium silencer sounds deeper and harder-edged at the same measured pressure, because the frequency content moves rather than the amplitude. Spark says as much: the development focus was on keeping the spectacular three-cylinder note while meeting the regulation.

What Makes It Approved

Two things, and Spark names both. First a very light pre-silencer in AISI 304 with a very thin wall, made with current-generation moulds and tooling, whose shape is drawn to sit with the lines of the bike rather than under them. Second a special catalytic converter inside that box — racing cell count, rich noble-metal impregnation.

The combination is what lets Spark claim more performance without any ECU change. A restrictive catalyst would cost what the exhaust gained; a heavily loaded one with an open cell structure does not.

Pillion Seat Intact

Spark lists this kit as compatible with the passenger footrests — worth checking against the alternatives, because the WSSP replica link pipes for the same bike are not.

The standard mounting also keeps the silencer low and tucked, close to the swingarm. It is the least conspicuous of the three positions Spark offers on this generation, and the one that leaves the rear of the motorcycle looking closest to standard. The black ceramic treatment on the box is an option, sold as GTR0503BOM.
