The T-Plane Changed the Bike
Triumph gave the 900 triple an uneven firing order, which produces distinct pulses of torque rather than the smooth stream the 800 delivered. Off road it lets the rear tyre recover between power strokes; on tarmac it gives the engine a character its predecessor never had.
Rally and GT
The range splits into road-biased GT models with cast wheels and off-road Rally versions with a spoked 21 inch front and considerably more travel. The Rally Pro in particular is capable enough to embarrass much larger adventure bikes on a loose surface.
The Aligned Drilling
This version is cut for master cylinders whose clamp bolts sit square to the bar. It is the narrower of the two dedicated options and the tidier fit where the geometry is known and will not change.
Vibration From an Uneven Crank
The T-plane arrangement puts a distinctive low-frequency pulse through the chassis, and everything bolted to the handlebar feels it. A one-piece machined body clamped with a proper fastener stays tight under that where a clipped moulding gradually does not.
Sealed for the Conditions
Elements sealed inside a housing with no moulded joint. A Tiger is ridden in weather other motorcycles avoid and washed afterwards, and that is what the construction is aimed at.
Black, Titanium or Copper
Three anodised finishes, all applied through the surface. A knock dulls the component instead of leaving a bright scar on an otherwise dark cockpit.
Fitted in an Evening
The grip and bar-end weight come off, the original assembly follows, and the new one goes on using Triumph's connector. No wire is cut and no dealer visit follows, which suits a bike whose owners tend to do their own maintenance between trips.
