The One People Still Want
Lighter than the 1290, more powerful than the 790, with a 21 inch front and WP suspension. KTM discontinued it in 2019 without a direct replacement, and riders who wanted exactly this have been buying used ones ever since.
A Throttle for Standing
On the pegs the wrist has less rotation available than it does seated, which makes a long throttle travel genuinely awkward. Shortening it is an off-road modification first and a road one second, and on an R that is the right way round.
What the Conversion Removes
The complete right-hand cluster, because KTM builds it into the throttle assembly. On a motorcycle ridden where help is distant, restoring the starter and kill switch properly is not a matter of preference.
Angled for the Rider
An independent bar clamp can be rotated to suit a standing posture, which is where an Adventure R spends a substantial share of its time. A throttle-mounted housing cannot be adjusted at all.
Dust, Then Impact
Fine grit works into a contact and remains; a fall at walking pace does the rest. Sealed military-specification elements inside a compact machined block address the first, and mounting inboard on the bar helps with the second.
KTM's Own Connector
Pre-wired, so nothing is spliced. The off-road riding mode and the switchable ABS continue to work exactly as delivered, and the standard assembly refits without trace before a sale.
Titanium
One finish. Against the R's orange frame, black plastics and bare metal it reads as a machined component rather than an accessory, which is the appropriate register for this motorcycle.
