DescriptionThe whole story▼

The first Triumph Tiger Explorer, built from 2012 to 2015 and listed by Accossato as the Tiger 1200 Explorer, has a torquey triple that pulls hard out of corners, and some owners enjoy exploiting it on twisty roads. For them, Accossato offers the AGPA58 front pad in its EV1 street/track compound. It gives a firmer, more immediate bite than the everyday options and suits riders who brake late on a mountain road or book the occasional track day.

Key Features

  • AGPA58 front pad, EV1 street/track compound
  • For the Triumph Tiger Explorer (Tiger 1200 Explorer), 2012 to 2015
  • Accossato: excellent grip on the road and for amateur track riding
  • Firm, immediate lever response
  • Two pads in the box for one front caliper
  • Also available as OR, ST and EV2

Construction and Material Quality

According to Accossato, EV1 offers excellent grip for street riding and for amateur use on the track. The compound expects to be worked and is at home with firm, deliberate braking. Across its range, the Italian firm names slow wear, a controlled temperature rise that limits fade and strong stopping power as qualities of its pads.

Sweeping Roads on a Big Triple

The early Explorer's engine makes it easy to arrive at the next bend faster than expected. On a road such as a Scottish single-track pass or a winding Alpine valley route, that means repeated firm stops, and a pad with a crisp initial response makes those stops easier to judge. For an amateur track day, the pad has to deal with even harder use, lap after lap. Given the age of these bikes, check the discs for wear and the fluid for age before any sporty riding. For relaxed touring or daily riding, OR and ST are more suitable choices; for race weekends, EV2.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA58 for the front of the Tiger Explorer from 2012 to 2015; the 2016 and 2017 bikes use AGPA177. Two front calipers mean two boxes. At the rear, Accossato lists AGPA76 for 2012 to 2017. Clean the pistons before pushing them back, bed the pads in with a series of controlled stops and let the brakes cool after hard use before parking.

Road Approval

We have no German ABE or test mark on record for this pad. It is sold for track and competition use.
