DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few sections unsettle an enduro rider on a Honda CRF250X like a long off-camber traverse: a path cut across a hillside, leaning the wrong way, with the ground falling away on one side. The bike wants to slide downhill, and only careful throttle, body position and clutch keep it on line. Accossato's C7210 is the folding clutch lever listed for the CRF250X of 2004 to 2017. It is machined from Ergal 7075, carries a long blade with room for four fingers and is built with a joint, so the blade can fold forward if the bike slides onto its left.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Honda CRF250X, 2004 to 2017
- Installed at the original clutch perch, replacing the stock lever
- Long, four-finger blade
- Anti-break joint lets the blade tip forward instead of snapping
- Ergal 7075 aluminium alloy, machined from solid
- Made in Italy
- Blade in black or red on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Ergal 7075 is an aluminium alloy built on zinc, magnesium and copper, and far stronger than the common grades. Accossato cuts every C7210 from a solid block of it on CNC equipment in Italy, because the company wants three things from a lever: strength, low weight and reliability. The part divides at its joint. On one side is the dark base that stays on the pivot, on the other the black or red blade, which can fold. As a clutch lever it is long, with space for four fingers, giving the whole hand a share of the work in slow, technical sections.
Across an Off-Camber Slope
The technique on an off-camber traverse runs against instinct. Weight goes onto the downhill footpeg, pressing the tyres into the slope, while the upper body stays upright or even leans out as the bike tilts into the hill. The throttle stays steady and the clutch is feathered to keep the rear tyre driving without spinning, because a spinning tyre on a sideways slope simply slides down it. On the CRF250X, many riders pick a gear higher than feels natural and use the clutch to manage the drive, letting the engine pull smoothly at low revs.
When a traverse goes wrong, the bike usually slides away down the slope and lies on its downhill side. If the hill drops to the left, that means the clutch lever is underneath, pressed into soil and stones by the bike's weight as it slides. On the C7210 the blade can fold forward on its joint instead of breaking at the tip, which improves the chance of standing the CRF250X up, turning it round and finishing the section with a working clutch. It is no guarantee, but on a hillside where pushing a bike out is hard work, a usable clutch makes all the difference.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7210 is listed for the Honda CRF250X from 2004 to 2017 and fits the original clutch perch. On the right, the B8206 folding brake lever covers the same years. Both levers are made in black and red, and the brake lever is also available in blue or gold.
Road Approval
The C7210 carries no documented German ABE. It is supplied for off-road riding and competition; on public roads it is not approved, even on a CRF250X with registration.
Scope of Delivery
