DescriptionThe whole story▼
For many owners the tightest spot a Monster 1200 S ever sees is not a hairpin but the garage at home, shared with a car, bicycles and a workbench. Wheeling the bike in and out of that space, one hand on the bar and one on the seat, is where the clutch lever collects its scratches, or worse. Accossato's LV015 is a folding clutch lever for the 2014 to 2020 Monster 1200 S, fitted to the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder, with adjustable reach and a blade that folds on a hinge.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Monster 1200 S, 2014 to 2020
- Replaces the original lever on the hydraulic clutch master cylinder
- Hinged blade, able to fold away from a knock
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- CNC-machined aluminium with anodised finish
- Black base, blade in any of eight colours
- Blade with RST cut-out or without (NRST)
Construction and Material Quality
The LV015 is made in two anodised aluminium parts, both machined on CNC equipment. Its black base sits at the pivot and houses the adjuster; its blade, in the colour you pick, is joined to the base through a hinge that allows it to fold. You can have the blade in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver or titanium. Lighter RST blades have a cut-out, solid NRST blades do not, and on a Monster 1200 S, where the controls are in plain view, either version looks clean against the black base.
Parked Between the Car and the Workbench
Anyone who keeps a bike in a single garage knows the routine. The car goes in first, the Monster 1200 S squeezes along the wall, and getting it out again means reversing on foot with the bar turned, looking over your shoulder while the mirrors pass within a finger's width of the car door. A moment's distraction and the clutch lever catches the wall, a shelf or the edge of the workbench.
A blade without a hinge can scrape, bend or snap in that situation. The LV015's blade can swing back when it meets something solid, which can turn a damaged lever into nothing worse than a mark on the wall. The same applies if the bike, parked on its side stand close to the car, is nudged by an opening door and topples onto its left side. It also helps to set the reach so you can pull the clutch comfortably while walking beside the bike: rolling it in gear with the clutch held gives a little extra control on a sloping garage floor.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list places the LV015 on the Monster 1200 S of 2014 to 2020, Stripes and US versions included. On the brake side the LV013 folding lever matches it year for year, and the RA002 brake lever with remote adjuster is listed for the same span. The base Monster 1200 and the 1200 R have their own listings.
Road Approval
The LV015 is sold for track use, as no German ABE has been documented.
