DescriptionThe whole story▼
On the Kawasaki Z1000 built from 2014, very little hides behind bodywork. Kawasaki shaped that generation around its 'Sugomi' design idea, and the result leaves the engine, the frame and everything around the rider's feet on display. Parts fitted to a bike like this are parts people will look at. Accossato's FT083 rearsets for the Z1000 of 2014 to 2016 come in all black or in black with green details, set the footrests further back than Kawasaki's and keep the standard shift.

- Adjustable racing street rearsets for the Kawasaki Z1000, 2014 to 2016

- Knurled pegs and lever tips for boot grip
- Aluminium heel guards
- Standard shift
- Choice of all black or black with green details

Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium is the material for the FT083, and Accossato sums up the design as simple and functional. Knurling runs across the footpegs and the ends of both levers, where the boots need purchase, and aluminium plates protect the heels. Accossato describes the set as adjustable; how the adjustment works and how far it goes are not part of its description, so we make no promises there. The two versions differ in colour: black throughout, or black with green details.
Green Details or All Black
Choosing the version is mostly a question of how your bike already looks. Kawasaki's lime green has been the brand's racing colour for decades, and a set with green details picks up that thread on a Z1000 that wears it. On a bike painted in darker colours, the same details become a small accent that draws the eye to the rider's area, which some owners enjoy and others find fussy. The all-black version recedes into the shadow beneath the seat and leaves the attention on the engine and the bodywork.
Before deciding, look at your Z1000 from the side at the eye height of someone standing next to it, since that is how most people will see it. Take stock of any coloured parts you have already fitted, such as levers, frame sliders or anodised caps, and ask yourself whether green at the footrests would sit with them or compete. Whichever you pick, the rearsets alter the bike's profile a little: with the footrests further back, the rider's legs fold into a sportier line, which suits the crouched stance Kawasaki gave this naked.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT083 for the Z 1000 from 2014 to 2016. It takes the place of the rider's original footrests, gear lever and brake pedal and keeps the standard pattern. We recommend workshop fitting: both linkages adjusted, the brake's free play checked, the brake light tested and all fasteners tightened to Kawasaki's specification, with thread lock where the manual calls for it. Sit on the bike on its stand and try the new position before the first ride.
Road Approval
No ABE or parts certificate is documented for the FT083. It is therefore not approved for German roads and is offered for track use.
