The one real inconvenience of a washable air filter is not the washing. Blowing a panel through takes minutes and can be done with the seat off and the bike still on its stand. What takes time is the drying: an element that has been through water has to dry all the way through, in moving air, without any heat, and that is a wait counted in hours. On a V85 Travel with a trip in the diary the answer is not a different medium but a second panel. The housing takes one PM01P14 at a time, and owning two moves the drying into the days the motorcycle is out being ridden.
Key Features
- Dry special nonwoven, filtration rated at 14 µm for air with a dust load
- Rated throughput of 1,800 l/m²/sec — closer weave, less flow, one exchange rather than a ranking
- Free of oil in every state: as delivered, in service, and after every cleaning
- Approximately double the working area of a typical performance element
- Direct replacement for the factory element in the standard airbox, with no remapping
- Built for the life of the motorcycle and covered by two years of warranty from the date of purchase
Two panels, one housing
A spare element is not a technical upgrade, it is a logistics one, and on a travelling machine logistics is usually the binding constraint. Clean the panel that came out at leisure, store it dry, and the airbox is never the reason a departure slips. It also removes the temptation that ends more filters than dust ever does: reaching for a heat source to speed a drying panel along, which is exactly what the medium is not built to survive.
What the dusty-conditions grade is for
Fourteen microns is chosen for the air, not for the engine. A loaded V85 Travel on gravel access roads, in harvest season traffic or behind roadworks is presenting the intake with a fraction the standard weave is content to let pass; on clean tarmac that same closer cloth simply costs throughput for nothing. In neither case does the element add power. A panel in an unmodified airbox leaves a series motorcycle exactly as strong as it was, and the honest benefit is a low, stable intake resistance that cleaning restores rather than a number on a dyno sheet.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air, aimed outward from the clean face, is what regenerates PM01P14 between longer trips. When the load is fine enough to resist air, lukewarm water with a mild detergent will lift it; rinse thoroughly and dry the element completely in circulating air. Never apply heat or flame, and never oil or dress the medium — it goes back into the airbox dry. The maintenance sheet is filed under the Downloads tab.

Drawn for the airbox of the Moto Guzzi V85 Travel across model years 2020 to 2026. This medium covers four catalogue entries in total, spread over two marques of the same group, and every machine appears with its model years in the Fitment tab.
