DescriptionThe whole story▼

If your bike or your jersey carries red, the Gladius Smoke Red/Grey was made to match it. Frame and strap are both red, the lettering is dark grey, and the lens is Sidi's lightly tinted Smoke Category 1.

  • Red frame and matching red strap
  • Smoke Category 1 lens for variable light
  • Lens surface treated against scratches
  • Room for prescription eyewear (OTG)
  • Frame Sidi describes as anti-intrusion
  • Two-layer face foam
  • Elastic strap with silicone lining
  • Weight 120 g, one size fits all

Who It Suits

Sidi pitches the Gladius Smoke at riders who want dependable vision and a natural fit without a heavy goggle on their face. At 120 grams it is light, and the OTG shape makes it one of the options for people who ride with corrective lenses. The tint is aimed at mixed conditions, typical for a motocross day that starts grey and ends in sunshine.

How the Smoke Lens Behaves

A Category 1 lens transmits between 43 and 79 percent of visible light, according to the range chart Sidi publishes with its goggles. That is darker than the clear Gladius, which sits at 80 percent or more, and noticeably lighter than the mirrored Category 2 option in the Sidi line-up. Sidi talks about balanced filtering and consistent visibility when the light keeps changing. A scratch-resistant finish protects the outer face from the abrasion that dirt and stones inevitably cause.

Strap, Foam and Fit

A silicone layer on the inside of the elastic band keeps the goggle anchored to the helmet when the track gets rough or you land a jump heavily. On the face side, Sidi uses dual-layer foam. The outer layer and the skin-contact layer together are meant to seal comfortably and to manage sweat. Sidi describes the result as a stable, natural position inside the helmet opening.

Glasses Underneath

The Over The Glasses construction builds extra volume in front of your eyes. Sidi says the light frame fits around spectacles without losing stability or comfort. Narrow, flat frames usually work best in any OTG goggle; very wide or thick glasses are worth testing first.

Durability and Spares

Sidi mentions replaceable components that extend the goggle's service life, but does not list them. Before you rely on a particular spare part, please contact us so we can check availability.

What You Should Know

Sidi gives no protection standard for the Gladius Smoke, so do not treat it as certified eye protection. There is no mention of an anti-fog coating, of tear-off posts or a roll-off system, or of a second lens in the box. The light tint helps in changeable weather but is not a full sunglass lens. Plan on a different lens if you mostly ride in bright midday sun.

Colour

The product photo shows a strong signal red on the frame, with a slightly glossier finish around the lens opening and a matt-looking strap in the same red. The large Sidi logo across the band is printed in dark grey, and the adjusters are black. Red stays visible against brown dirt, which helps your mates spot you in the pits. It also shows clay stains less than white does.
