DescriptionThe whole story▼
The OZ Piega front wheel for the Ducati Panigale 899 (2013–2016) is built to a standard that satisfies the demands of both homologated road use and serious track work. Developed directly by the OZ SBK Racing division, its five-spoke forged aluminium construction is engineered to cut rotating mass and sharpen every input — steering, braking, cornering — without a single compromise on structural integrity.
Key Features
- Forged aluminium construction reduces rotating mass for measurably improved agility, cornering precision and high-speed stability
- Five-spoke Piega design conceived by the OZ SBK Racing department — proven in superbike competition and validated for road use
- Suitable for both road and track: the Piega R-Series is specifically recommended for mixed road and circuit duty
- Available in three anodised finishes — gloss black, techno black and techno gold — each delivering a distinctly premium, race-derived aesthetic
- Supplied complete with precision bearings, aluminium angled valves and spacers where required, so fitment is straightforward
- Made in Italy to OZ's exacting manufacturing standards for long-term reliability under extreme load cycles
Engineering & Build Quality
Forging rather than casting is the critical difference in a performance wheel. The forging process aligns the grain structure of the aluminium, producing a component that is simultaneously lighter and stronger than an equivalent cast item. For a motorcycle like the Panigale 899 — a machine with a chassis tuned to a razor's edge — reducing unsprung and rotating mass at the front wheel translates directly into faster steering response and reduced gyroscopic resistance through direction changes.
OZ's SBK Racing division developed the Piega profile specifically for superbike applications, where aerodynamic drag through the spokes, spoke stiffness under braking loads and consistent tyre-seating geometry are all performance variables. The result is a wheel that feels at home on a warm-out lap at a circuit but is equally composed on a fast road.
Finish & Aesthetics
All three colour options are applied as anodised finishes rather than paint, meaning the surface treatment penetrates the aluminium rather than sitting on top of it. Anodising is inherently more resistant to chipping, abrasion and corrosion than conventional coating, and it retains its appearance far longer under the thermal and mechanical stresses a front wheel endures. Gloss black anodised offers a classic, understated look; techno black adds a contemporary matte dimension; techno gold brings the racing-replica finish that complements Ducati's traditional livery palette.
Fitment & Compatibility
This wheel is a direct-fit replacement for the following:
- Ducati Panigale 899 — model years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016
The package includes high-quality bearings, aluminium angled valves and any spacers required for correct installation, so no additional components need to be sourced separately for a standard fitment.
