Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 05566-05

Original Öhlins service part

Function

Öhlins publishes no separate dimension for this position, so the part number carries the identity. Öhlins builds the seat into the housing so the sealing face is machined, not pressed. Valves hold pressure in one direction and open in the other. Öhlins machines its pistons rather than sintering them, which is why the port edges stay sharp.

Genuine Service Part

This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Öhlins numbers every position so a workshop can order precisely what it needs, not a whole assembly. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Order under 05566-05. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Replacing a piston is a workshop job because the shim stack has to be rebuilt in the correct order. A worn valve bleeds damping away without any visible symptom.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05566-05

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05566-05_20006d0c-9170-466f-b0bd-38588d508386.png?v=1788876859
