DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a CB1000RA the reservoir sits in plain sight at the bar, unstyled. Enter the OBT001: a 31 cm³ billet reservoir at 106 g, built to replace the original box. There are 2 finishes to choose from, all at the same price. It changes the part of the CB1000RA the rider looks at most.

Key Features

  • Colour is the only choice to make on the OBT001
  • Supplied individually for the CB1000RA
  • 31 cm³ capacity — the figure to check against your CB1000RA master cylinder
  • Universal by design: LighTech builds one reservoir, not one per Honda model
  • Laser-engraved LighTech logo on the shell
  • LighTech part number OBT001, listed for the Honda CB1000RA

Application

The listing is for the CB1000RA and the years 2008 to 2017. LighTech builds this reservoir as a universal part — it is not machined to the CB1000RA specifically, and the fit depends on where you mount it.

Mounting It

The OBT001 goes on with the CB1000RA on its stand. Bleed and pressure-test the circuit on the CB1000RA afterwards; this is not a cosmetic part. Everything removed from the CB1000RA can go straight back on.

Why the Original Falls Short

Brake fluid absorbs water, which is why the level and the colour are worth seeing. The OBT001 comes with a rubber gasket under the cap, which is what keeps fluid where it belongs. On the CB1000RA the reservoir replaces the original box and nothing else has to move.

The Second Part Number

The OBT001 arrives as a tank and a cap, nothing else. LighTech offers a front bracket (OBT008) and a rear one (OBT009), plus the OBT003 support, and all three are black only. Tell us where you want it on the CB1000RA and we will put the right bracket on the order.

Maintenance

Brake fluid attacks paint and anodising alike, so wipe spills off the CB1000RA immediately. Otherwise it is a fit-and-forget item on the CB1000RA.

What Is in the Box

The OBT001 arrives as the tank, the cap and the gasket. LighTech keeps it as a stock item.

Road Use and Approval

This part sits in the brake or clutch hydraulic circuit, which makes it more than a styling item. The OBT001 carries no approval mark. Have a workshop bleed and pressure-test the CB1000RA circuit once the part is on, whatever your inspector says.
